" Veteran Gendarmerie Staff Sergeant "

A Hungarian Royal Gendarmerie Staff Sergeant poses in his service uniform, wearing an impressive medal bar reflecting distinguished service during the First World War. Among his decorations are several Silver and Bronze Bravery Medals, awarded for acts of courage in combat, the Karl Troop Cross (Karl-Truppenkreuz) for frontline service, the Hungarian World War I Commemorative Medal, and the Non-Commissioned Officer Long Service Cross.

His high-collar tunic was the standard service dress of the Royal Hungarian Gendarmerie throughout the 1920s and 1930s, reflecting the conservative military traditions inherited from the Austro-Hungarian era.

The combination of wartime decorations and long-service awards highlights both the Staff Sergeant’s combat experience and his lengthy career in one of Hungary’s most respected law enforcement institutions.
